First International Freelancers Day

September 23, 2010 by FutureExpat

This free, online, two-day event is the brainchild of Steve Slaunwhite, Ed Gandia and Pete Savage, who are billing it as “the biggest ever FREE online conference for solo professionals.”

The speakers are some of the stars of the writing, blogging and social media world: Brian Clark (Copyblogger), Michael Stelzner (Social Media Examiner), Mari Smith, Michael Martine, and many more.

They’ll be covering topics like, “How Facebook Can Supercharge Your Freelance Business” and “How to Determine if there’s a Viable Market for your Freelance Services.” One I’m particularly looking forward to is titled, “Workday Nirvana: How to Remain Inspired and Productive When You Work Alone.”

So why am I telling you about this?

A lot of you have told me you’ll need to generate income through some sort of work after your relocate to your new dream home overseas, and I will too. We’ve previously discussed some ways for doing that including:

  • Photography
  • Writing, including Travel Writing, Blogging or Copywriting
  • Coaching
  • Becoming an artisan

These are all forms of freelance work, and there are many, many more. I’m personally developing a writing business, and also offering my services to set up and customize WordPress sites. So I’m excited about spending a couple of days with my fellow freelancers learning about new ways to develop business or use my skills.

While the event is free, you do have to register to participate. Go to International Freelancers Day to do so. If you can’t listen to all the sessions live, playbacks will be available — but only to those who are registered.

I’ll be there — how about you?

Are you planning to participate? Why or why not?
