Future Expats Have Spoken!

November 2, 2010 by FutureExpat

poll pictureI’ve just closed the poll, and the verdict is in. You want to see more about

  1. preparing to expatriate
  2. earning an income overseas and
  3. health care

So we’re going to zero in on those topics. You’ll still see some general expat issues discussed from time to time, and if there’s any news of particular importance to expats and future expats, you’ll see it here.

But, going forward, we’ll mostly be talking about what you need to do to get ready for and execute your move overseas. That naturally includes how you’ll earn an income in your new home, which requires advance planning.

I’m also preparing a major facelift of the site, so expect some changes in how it looks and feels. A word of warning — some of those changes might include temporary glitches or lack of functionality. I’ll try to keep those to an absolute minimum, but since I’m just one person without an IT staff to support me, it may happen. Just sayin’. If it does, please be patient and know I’ll resolve it as quickly as I possibly can.

I’m looking forward to the next phase of our adventure together as we prepare to expatriate, and I hope you are, too!

Here are the full poll results. When asked :

Preparing to Expatriate: 28%
Earning an Income Overseas: 17%
Health Care: 17%
Culture Shock: 14%
Country Information: 14%
Real Estate: 3%
Overseas Retirement: 3%
Other: 3%

What’s been your most important or difficult task as you prepare to expatriate? Leave a Comment to share it with all of us!

these are very interesting figures Susanna, thanks for taking the trouble to run this survey. On one side preparing to expat. isn’t a surprise, considering your site. The fact that equal weight is given to income and healthcare also says a lot about people’s focus when moving abroad.
Looking fwd to to your new site!
    Cheers
    John

Thanks, John. Survey results were a good confirmation of what I already sensed, so I’m glad I asked people to weigh in.
