Cerro Canajagua — Las Tablas, Panama’s Highest Mountain [Video]

View from Cerro Canajagua over Las Tablas, Panama to the Pacific OceanOn Sunday, December 2, giddy with our newfound freedom as car owners in Panama, my husband and I decided to drive up to Cerro Canajagua. It’s the tallest mountain in the Las Tablas area, at 886 meters (2907 feet).

My husband has wanted to get up there almost since we arrived as expats.

Some of his Panamanian cycling pals rode their bikes up to the top one day. After living in Florida for 24 years, my husband hasn’t developed the hill-climbing ability to bicycle up (although he’s working on it). That meant he had to take the car.

We set out in mid-afternoon in bright sunshine. As we approached the peak, clouds covered the sun and we had a few minutes of rain. Fortunately, it cleared up when we reached the summit.

Here’s a little video we shot. We used two different cameras. One of them was mounted on the car’s dashboard at the time, so you see the inside of the car in those frames.

If you enjoy this video, subscribe to my You Tube Channel and get an email update whenever I add another video.

That’s true. But I was writing about Cerro Canajagua, which is the hitest mountain on the Azuero Peninsula/Las Tablas.
